Home Office Décor Update 2021

I talked about my plans to decorate my home office last summer but never really revealed how everything turned out.

This is one of my favorite spaces in our home because it is 100% mine and where I do all of my hobbies and projects.

So in this post I’ll walk you through everything I’ve done in my office and link as much as I can. Unfortunately some things are out of stock or no longer sold so in that case I’ll try and find some close alternatives.

Futon Chair

I LOVE this chair. It is so comfortable. It is a futon chair, so the front and back can fold out. I love being able to sit up and have my legs out in front so I can work on my laptop.

Plate Wall

I did a whole post on my best tips to plan, shop, and install a plate wall if you want to check that out. I’ll go ahead and link all the plates I used below if you want to copy me. I used these hangers from Amazon to attach to the wall.

Bookshelf

I got this 12 cube organizer from Target about three years ago and used it for various purposes.

Then last summer I got these beautiful hyacinth baskets from the Container Store that fit perfectly and match my sconce.

Shelf Decor

The décor is really just a random assortment of things I’ve collected, below are some similar pieces.

Mini Fridge

The mini fridge is a recent addition, and lots of fun. I found it for $24 and thought why not have it here?

It is nice to have cold drinks and snacks within arms reach when I am in here working on a project and don’t want to take a break.

Sconce

I installed this scone using a sconce hack so that I don’t have to hard wire it.

This one is from Overstock and out of stock, but below are some similar.

Roman Shades

I got this linen fabric from Joann and added a beautiful greek key trim from Etsy.

I mostly followed this YouTube tutorial to make them.

Bike

I wish I could hide this or store it away in a closet, but I can’t.

I love having a spin bike at home and doing Peloton workout. I got this Sunny Bike from Amazon.

Stencil

This stenciled wall is the first thing you see when you walk into my office.

I love how it looks and that if I ever want to change it I can just paint over it.

It is from Royal Design Studio and is the stencil Meandering Rose

I wrote a whole post on my best tips for stenciling a wall because it is not as easy as it looks.

Desk

The next largest statement piece is my big, blue desk. The desk itself is a hand me down my husband had when we met.

I found this paint color and fell in love. It is Wedgewood by Heirloom Traditions Paint, and I wrote a post about painting the desk here.

Chair

I had a specific vision for my desk chair and wasn’t finding what I wanted.

Then I found an old Ikea Gregor chair on Facebook Marketplace for $10 and gave it a little makeover.

The metal was originally black, but I used the Rust-Oleum Universal All Surface Spray Paint in Metallic Pure Gold to spray paint it.

Desktop

About a month ago I made the decision to put away my desktop computer and just leave my sewing machine and cricut in itself.

I hardly ever used my computer here and was constantly using my sewing machine. I still have a laptop nearby for when I need it.

Bulletin Board

Finally I have this bulletin board for saving things that inspire me and creating a real life mood board.

Right now I have some fabric swatches from around the house in case I ever need to color match anything.

That’s my office!

The décor of this space was so important to me because I wanted a functional space that also inspires me.

I hope it has inspired you as well, let me know what you think!
